New Release,Upcoming movie of 2007

Madhuri Dixit
Story;

After nearly a decade, an unexpected phone call shakes Dia (Madhuri Dixit) out of her dance rehearsal in New York.Makarand (Darshan Zariwala), her teacher, her guru, is dying and she must return to Shamli town.

town where she grew up, the town where she learnt to live and to dance. Also the town she left on an impulse, severing ties with her parents and her people. It is a poignant and troubled return; not only has her guru passed away but the institution that he so lovingly nurtured is in decay and under threat of demolition.

Ajanta theatre, the once vibrant hub of the community, the place where Dia’s fondest memories are embedded must now be brought down because the local political authorities feel it a waste of prime real estate. With the help of Doctor (Raghubir Yadav), the caretaker of Ajanta, Dia sets out on a mission to prevent the destruction and resurrect the spirit of Ajanta.

In an atmosphere of mistrust, ridicule and active hostility, Dia picks up the gauntlet and agrees to achieve the near impossible task of putting together a theatrical production. She must also ensure that every member of the production is from Shamli town. She has only two months to prove her point or the bulldozers will be waiting.

In this context begins her tumultuous journey of dealing with small town prejudices, encountering the resentment of the powerful contractor, the cynicism of the local political powers, resolve the delicate tensions of inter personal relationships and rally her motley team of non starters - a low level muscle Imran (Kunal Kapoor), the local tomboy Anokhi (Konkona Sen), local ex-MLA Chaudhary Om Singh (Akhilendra Mishra), a vulnerable tea stall owner Mohan Sharma (Ranvir Shorey), a responsible government official Mr. Chojar (Vinay Pathak), a struggling insurance agent Sanjeev Mehta (Jugal Hansraj), the town vagabond Dhankuber (Nowaz) and a host of others. She must create in this chaos in order to save Ajanta... in order to preserve what her guru so lovingly nurtured. She must create art in order to preserve what she believes is the soul of society. The stage is finally set... Will it work? Won’t it?

Aaja Nachle all set to roll again in UP

Aaja Nachle, Madhuri’s much hyped comeback film had gotten itself embroiled into a ‘lyrical controversy’ just hours after its release in the state of Uttar Pradesh. The state residents were outraged stating that the filmmakers should either take the objectionable lyrics off the film, or else they will take the film off the theatres. The lines, which they found objectionable featuring in the title track of the film goes as ‘Bazaar Mein Machi Hai Maar hai, Bole Mochi Bhi Khud Ko Sunar hai’. These reportedly had offended some of the Dalit organizations. Mayawati, the Chief Minister of UP had even shot off a letter to the Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh in this regard. The impact of the ban was so much that Punjab had decided to ban the movie today.

In order to avoid any further bans and troubles, Yash Raj Films acted on it immediately and deleted the two objectionable songs. The film’s director Anil Mehta said that they had made the film in good faith and something, which would not hurt any section of the society. He also apologized saying that if the film has hurt the sentiments of anyone, they are ready to delete the said lines.

Mr. Yash Chopra Chairman Yash Raj Films said "It was not our intention to hurt the feelings of any individual or community of our great nation. If we have inadvertently hurt the sentiments of anybody I apologise for the same and have taken immediate remedial action by deleting the line from the prints of Aaja Nachle from all over the country. This line has been deleted in all the theatres today. Yash Raj Films makes family oriented films and propagates Indian culture through them and would never do anything that is detrimental to the sentiments of our people."

As they say, all’s well that ends well, so what if the end contains two lines lesser than the original!

It was something that was totally unexpected and uncalled for. Madhuri’s much awaited comeback film, Aaja Nachle has run into problems big time, so much so that the whole of Uttar Pradesh is up in arms against this film and is in no mood to see it. At the helm of things is none other than the Chief Minister of UP Mayawati, who has called for a ban on the film, Aaja Nachle in Uttar Pradesh. The reason of the ban is being cited as certain caste-demeaning remarks in the title track of the film.

Mayawati also has written a letter to the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh demanding a countrywide ban on the film, saying it has hurt the sentiments of Dalits. The protestors also added that since certain words in the title song are derogatory to a particular Scheduled Caste community, the producers could run the film if they remove the "objectionable" song.

Here is hoping that the controversy settles down fast and the cine goers are not deprived of the ‘Dhak-Dhak’ girl’s comeback Jalwa!

Dus Kahaniyan: full of surprises

Dus Kahaniyaan, as the name suggests, puts ten different stories together. It has a lot of stars including Suniel Shetty, Sanjay Dutt, Shabana Azmi, Naseerudin Dino Morea, and Neha Dupia. Shabana Azmi and Naseerudin come together after a gap of 18 yrs for this movie.

Interestingly enough, Shabana had a special Tamil tutor who helped in her characterization.

Dino delayed the film by 3 weeks. You know why? He wants to make his abs perfect as he was requited to takes off his shirt for the movie.

Jimmy, being a method actor, actually got drunk for a scene in the film.

The movie has a theme song. It involved 20 actors, a crowd of 3000 people, 100 dancers, 22 make artists, 20 hair stylists. It was finished within three days.

Meghna Gulzar, in his effort to show authenticity, went to a small village close to Chandigarh to shoot for Pooranmashi, when he wanted to shoot a hut. A real hut was used for the same.

Suniel Shetty and Sanjay Dutt shot for five days in the rains where Sanjya Dutt fell unwell while Suniel Shetty was fine. On probing a little more the team found out that Suniel Shetty had a wet suit under his normal clothes so he did not catch a cold

Sanjay Gupta lent his Alibaug house for one of the episodes but within a day he decided to cancel the same and an entirely new set of the house was constructed to complete the rest of the shoot.

The movie is shaping up well with all these interesting developments. The movie, the insiders say, will not be a routine Bollywood movie.
